Welcome to the first number of the Journal of Language and Linguistics! The four articles presented here reflect topics in both theoretical and applied linguistics. If you have any comments about the articles, these should be addressed either to the authors directly or to the editors via email. The next issue of the journal will go live at the end of April 2002. All contributions and enquiries should be sent to the editors. Contributions are accepted in all areas of theoretical and applied linguistics.
